Lancet calls for decriminalization of sex work in a special issue on sex workers and HIV

Lancet-sex-work-infographic_930pxLast week the medical journal Lancet released a series of articles and comments on sex workers and HIV. The articles analyze the numerous social and medical challenges that limit sex workers’ access to health services, which leads to increased risk of HIV transmission. The journal’s strongest recommendation is for the decriminalization of sex work, which has lead to 33-46% reduction of HIV transmission in areas.
